Another Wil to bypass Memsie Stakes

The -trained is likely to bypass the (1400m) at on August 31.

Instead, connections have opted to run the Group 3 winner in a Benchmark 100 (1400m) on the same card.

Assistant trainer told Racing.com that while Another Wil could potentially target a Group 1 race later in his campaign, his first race back will be at a more manageable level.

“He’s going to go to a 1400 (metre) at the end of the month to kick-off, and then it’s performance-based from there,” Turnbull said of the horse, who saw his rating soar from 64 in January to 102 by April.

“The idea would be that we are running well there rather than going to a race like the Memsie. If he was to win that (BM100), you’d look at, say, a Makybe (Diva Stakes) second-up over a mile.

“He’s obviously a very talented horse.

“He’s still got a little bit to go mentally.

“He’s pretty hot and jazzy at times, so physically he’s there, but mentally he’s still got a touch to go.”
