Mark Newnham's stable foreman, Aaron Lowe, spoke after their win in the Listed Alinghi Stakes with A Very Fine Red.

“Absolutely, she really it today, I think this last year she came within a stride of winning a Stakes race,” said Lowe who was very happy with the win in the Alinghi Stakes.

“It's just about getting her back in form and she needed that run first-up the other day.

“A brilliant move by Mark (Newnham) putting the blinkers back on, but it was a good ride by Josh (Parr).

“There's a race for her in a couple of week on Derby Day where she might go to.” Aaron Lowe suggested that A Very Fine Red may race one more time in the spring before heading to the paddock.

Josh Parr bought up a double Caulfield and he looks to have his eye-in with the big ride on in the .

“Thankfully we were the combo on the line,” Parr replied when asked if he thought his mare had done enough to win in the photo finish.

“She was in a for the length of the straight and she's been able to stick her head out on the line and win.

“She's been unlucky twice at black-type level, so it's very important for her to win at this level. I'm thrilled to get the job done.”

A Very Fine Red will most likely go to the for mares on Derby Day on October 29.
