Group One racing beckons for Kiku in the spring but just how much further she goes this campaign is yet to be determined.
The Chris Waller-trained filly continued her form surge, racking up her third win in succession when she produced a well-timed run to claim the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday.
Waller is considering giving her one more start this campaign but his major focus is longer-term.
“I reckon she is still developing and she’ll be our Epsom, lightweight horse and Golden Eagle type of horse,” Waller said.
“I don’t know about Queensland, maybe a South Australian Oaks in three weeks but she is a sister to Zoutori, who is a sprinter, so you’ve just got to question whether she’ll get beyond a mile.”
Tommy Berry took Kiku (+280) back from her outside draw and despite tracking wide she finished strongly to reel in The Irishman (+150 fav) by three-quarters of a length with Poland (+800) the same margin away third.
