CROWNBET is now set to start its reign of dominance over the wagering world after a joint venture between Crown Resorts and BetEasy was officially launched on .

The partnership saw a complete re-branding of the existing BetEasy website, with all existing customers automatically over to Crownbet.com.au as of March 17, 2015.

The changeover comes three months after James Packer, the head of Crown, bought a 67 per cent share in the online bookmaker. It was revealed by The Australian Financial Review that the joint venture had registered the business name as Crownbet – indicating that the re-branding of BetEasy was imminent.

Packer said that he was confident that Crownbet will be able to rival some of the world's bookmaker giants in Paddy Power and William Hill.

“CrownBet has been built to operate as a world-class Australian-owned business that will compete strongly with the largely foreign-owned competitors in our wagering industry,” Packer said.

“By leveraging the combined assets of Crown and CrownBet, we will be able to provide significant benefits and opportunities for our existing and future customers.”

Crownbet will have access to the Crown Signature Club list and Signature Club members will receive points each time they place a bet with Crownbet. These points can be redeemed at the restaurants, hotel, retail shops and gaming offers at the .

CEO of Crownbet, Matthew Tripp, is positive that the new project will be enormously popular, offering its customers a superior betting service.

“The new CrownBet name and branding further solidifies our ties to the iconic Crown Resorts brand,” he said.

“The synergies between CrownBet and the Crown Signature Club will provide unparalleled value to our respective customer bases and new members.

“All at CrownBet share the goal of delivering Australians the best wagering experience available, and with today's announcements, and many more to come, we believe we're well on the way to achieving this.”

Important notes for former BetEasy customers:

  • BetEasy accounts will be transferred automatically to CrownBet – as will any funds in those accounts. Existing BetEasy members will not have to register new accounts or take any time to re-sign in.
  • All software will remain the same on the BetEasy website and app. Only the branding will change on those platforms. If you have a BetEasy app, it should update automatically to represent the change.
  • Any ongoing deals and with BetEasy will be honoured after the changeover to CrownBet.

Matthew Tripp knows a thing or two about what makes a successful wagering business. He was the brainchild behind the success of popular bookmaker Sportsbet, buying the fledgling company for a mere $250k in 2006 before selling it five years later for a gobsmacking $338 million.

Tripp then paid $10 million for the assets of the BetEzy business before it was rebranded as BetEasy in September 2014. During its short time on the online bookie stage, it became widely popular, delivering the best 100% Australian-owned option for punters wishing to have a wager with their hard-earned coin.

With two heavyweights in the betting world, Packer and Tripp, behind the Crownbet enterprise, there is no telling just what they can with this emerging global business. One thing is for sure, punters can still expect some great value and promotions from this new bookmaker.

Their initial offer gives new Crownbet customers who deposit at least $25 an extra $75 in bonus bets, meaning that they will instantly receive $100 in their new accounts before they have even placed a bet.
