He may not have won the Cox Plate, but Fiorente’s impressive run today has seen him firm from $7.00 to $5.50 to win the Melbourne Cup with online bookmaker Sportsbet.

On the other hand Puissance De Lune, who has been the favourite for the Cup for the majority of the year, is out from $10 to $21 after a disappointing run today.

“Fiorente still looked to have a bit in the tank at the Cox Plate and his run was pretty impressive. He was already favourite for the Melbourne Cup and after that run today he is clearly the one to beat,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.

Earlier in the day Precedence firmed from $201 to $101 after winning the Drake International Cup.

Punters who backed Fiorente and Happy Trails won’t be too disappointed, with Sportsbet Australia refunding over $160,000 to punters who backed them for the win thanks to the 2nd and 3rd place money back special.
