Wudang Blade Ends A Frustrating Sequence

Speedy galloper Wudang Blade ended a frustrating run of minor placings when he won at after the short priced favourite Basara bungled the start.

Wudang Blade ($8.50) had run four minor placings and a fourth since his last win in June but showed his normal early pace and then fought on to win .

Trainer Marcus Wilson was in Sydney on Wednesday but winning said Wudang Blade had shown plenty of heart.

“That’s the fourth time I have won on him and I think there is still a couple more in him,” Cahill said.

Basara($2.05) reared as the barriers opened and jockey effectively retired her from the race.

After stewards took evidence from Gallagher and barrier staff they declared Basara had got a fair start.

Wudang Blade wasn’t the only horse to end a frustrating run of minor placings.

Rabbit Hunter ($9) ended a run of six minor placings to run down favourite McKinlay Miss ($1.80).

“Rabbit Hunter has been just so frustrating. Even today he did things wrong. But the once the penny drops he will be a good horse,” trainer Stu Kendrick said.

Expensive gelding finally repaid the patience of trainer and punters when he won over 1350m

Peppi La Few started a short-priced favourite for the fifth time in his 10-race career when he powered home to add a win to his previous six minor placings.

By top sire , Peppi La Few was sold for $200,000 at the 2017 Sales and Birchley said he hoped the win would give the horse the confidence.

“Maybe I made a mistake keeping him at 1200m before today. But really he should have won a couple of his starts at 1200m,” Birchley said.
