The anticipation is building as last-start winners and emerge as the frontrunners among the 15 nominations for the prestigious Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington this Saturday.

Fangirl, under the expert guidance of trainer Chris Waller, victory in the Group 1 (1400m) and now sets her sights on securing her maiden Victorian Group 1 accolade to add to her impressive list of elite-level triumphs in Sydney.

Despite her formidable reputation, Fangirl has only ventured the ‘Victorian way' on one occasion, triumphing at the Melbourne Cup in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) back in 2021.

Meanwhile, Mr Brightside is poised to conquer the Flemington track in pursuit of his inaugural Group 1 victory, following an impressive win in the Memsie Stakes (1400m) at in his most recent outing.

Princess Grace, who finished second to Mr Brightside in the Memsie Stakes, is determined to reverse her fortunes and secure a coveted Group 1 title if connections choose to accept the challenge.

Adding to the excitement is the inclusion of the renowned Perth mare Amelia's Jewel.

While she is also nominated for the Group 2 (1400m) at Flemington, the possibility of a face-off with Mr Brightside promises to be a showdown between two of Australia's finest equine talents.

Alligator Blood, the gallant runner-up in last year's Makybe Diva Stakes, is anticipated to make a strong from his first-up fourth in the Memsie Stakes.
