Point Nepean out of Melbourne Cup with elevated blood results

Owner Lloyd Williams has withdrawn Point Nepean from Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup after he returned elevated blood results, Racing Victoria has revealed.

Racing announced on Monday morning that it had been advised by the stable that the horse would not be able to compete in the race that stops the nation on November 1.

Point Nepean is now the fifth runner owned by Williams to be scratched from since 2007, joining (2020), (2014), Mourayan (2011) and Gallic (2007).

With the scratching of Point Nepean, it now leaves without a ride after making the trip over to Australia from Europe.

Williams is now left with one runner – , who will go around as an +8000 outsider with Bovada.
