Japan Dominates Hong Kong International Day

Japanese horses have dominated the International meeting at winning three of the four Group One races.

Glory Vase took out Sunday’s (2400m), the Hong Kong Mile and Win Bright the Hong Kong Cup (2000m).

The -trained local Beat The Clock claimed the Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) in which the raging favourite Aethero could only manage third.

The Japanese success comes shortly after wins in Australia by in the and in the Cox Plate.

The Sprint was run without Australian Group One-winning mare who was ruled out on race morning with a hoof injury.

Hong Kong-based Joao Moreira rode five winners on the program including two of the Group One races, and the Sprint.

Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman was fourth in the Sprint on Mr Stunning and fourth in the Cup on Furore.
