Chenier Ruled Out Of Spring Carnival

Promising colt has been ruled out of the spring because of injury.

The -owned, -trained colt made a big impression when he won a maiden at on debut in March by 5-1/2-lengths and was subsequently high in markets for the Group One in April.

The colt did not make it to the Champagne Stakes, with connections opting to spell the two-year-old after he finished second to subsequent Champagne Stakes placegetter at Sandown on April 10.

Races such as the Guineas were on the radar for Chenier but Freedman Racing posted on Twitter on Monday he would miss the spring.

“Unfortunately Chenier has suffered an injury behind and will miss the spring, we hope to see the son of Medaglia D’oro back firing in the autumn,” Freedman Racing said.

“He’s still got a lot of growing and maturing to do but he’s a very promising colt who we have high hopes for next preparation.”
