Rain Washes Away Miller Night at TNT
By Jeremy Mayo

August 16, 2008; Three Lakes, WI  - On what otherwise turned out to be a decent night, a 20-minute torrent centered right over TNT Speedway in the six o’clock hour washed away Miller Beer of the Northwoods night.

Though the rain stopped and conditions became pleasant around 6:30, the heavy downpours received in the storm rendered the track unraceable.

The race was to have been the second-to-last point night in the 2008 championship. So next Saturday’s Season Championship night is sure to be interesting as three classes have tight point battles.

The tightest of them all is in the ASCI Truck class, which will make its fourth stop to TNT for the summer. There Birnamwood’s Scott Van Prooyen has a two-point lead over Forrest Crandall and leads Robin Procknow by only four.

Lac du Flambeau’s John Johnson will try for his third TNT Bomber championship in the last four seasons next Saturday. His first two track titles were won by narrow margins and a third would be no exception. He leads Argonne’s Todd Brass by just seven points.

Seven is also the lead for Bruce Crossing, Michigan’s Jordan Kurtti in the WISSOTA Street Stocks. Though he has been far and away the most dominant driver in the class with seven feature wins, Kurtti decided to skip last Saturday. That has put Rhinelander’s Dave Williams within shouting distance if any mechanical problems creep up.

Eagle River’s Bruce Belland will likely only need to start the feature to wrap up the WISSOTA Midwest Mod title. He leads Rhinelander’s Will Roffers by 17.

Meanwhile Eagle River’s Bill Martin can claim his first career track title rather easily. He leads Jason Isaacson by 37 points and can clinch the championship with a second place finish or better in the heats.

The answers to all the track championship questions will be given this coming Saturday at TNT. Hot Laps begin at 7:00 PM, with racing at 7:45.

One week after four great finishes at TNT Speedway, the WISSOTA Midwest Mods and the TNT Stingers provided a couple more nailbiters on Yellow Book night at the track.

Terry Stebbeds of Clearwater Lake wrestled back the lead in the final corner to take the WISSOTA Amsoil Dirt Track Series, Midwest Modified division win. Jason Isaacson from Merrill held off two late charges from point leader Bill Martin to capture his seventh Stinger feature.

The grounds of TNT Speedway offers full concessions, souvenirs, great food and drink at reasonable prices, and clean and modern restroom facilities. Giveaways for the fans, autograph sessions, rides in races cars for the kids, plenty of racing action make TNT the Place to Be every Saturday night.

WISSOTA sanctioned Midwest Modifieds and Streetstocks highlight the weekly program, and the TNT Bombers, and the 4 cylinder Stingers add tons of excitement to the night. If you have never been to TNT Speedway before, you need to do it! Easy to find, the track is located right on Highway 45 just six miles south of Three Lakes.

The 1/3 mile high banked clay oval opened in May of 1995. Once a vacant forty acre parcel of land, TNT Speedway is a true labor of love which was built by the owners, friends, family, sponsors, race fans, and the racers themselves. The race track grounds include full concession stands, a VIP Deck for sponsors, souvenir booths, clean modern restrooms, bleacher and picnic table seating for the fans, and a dynamite race track with high banked turns to keep the racing action right in front of the fans. The "pits" are located outside of the infield, which allows the fans a completely unobstructed view of the entire track. Daring passes, rollovers, crashes and plenty of high speed action await fans each night.

Fans will find a great variety of food and drink, souvenirs, prize giveaways, a covered pavilion area, and often, in the chilly fall season, a campfire to gather around after the races. As always, the Rutzen family and the entire staff invite you to spend your Saturday Nights at TNT Speedway, and promise to do everything in their power to ensure you a dynamite night of family fun and excitement.
