Brad Lautenbach continued his winning ways capturing the Sport Mod main event at John Miles Park in Sturgeon Bay. Other feature winners were Dave DeGrave (Stock Car), Aaron Thornton (Street Stock), CJ Weckler (Hobby Stock)and Ralph Liegeois Jr. (Four-Cylinders). The track saw a total of 52 cars take the green flag for the Wednesday night show.

Scott Boyea took advantage of his front row starting spot pulling out to an early lead in the Sport Mod feature. A caution plagued event kept the field bunched. Erik Mahlik made his presence felt as he worked to the inside of Boyea for the lead. The duo would make contact as another caution flew sending Boyea to pit lane with a flat tire. Mahlik inherited the lead but his reign up front didn’t last long as Brad Lautenbach worked from row 5 to take the lead in only 5 laps. Lautenbach would lead the rest of the way out lasting Troy Jerovetz, taking home another feature win. Jerovetz placed a solid second followed by Randy LeMieux Jr., Mahlik and Kurt Moeller.

Dave “The Hammer” DeGrave scored a clean winning his heat and feature in Stock Cars.

DeGrave snatched the lead away from Mike Weitor on the opening lap and built up a half a track advantage. Driving his Uncle Tony’s racer, Dave Bouche and Weitor battled hard for second with Bouche winning that battle. A caution on lap 9 bunched the field. This time DeGrave wouldn’t pull away from the field as the race restarted with Bouche pulling tight to DeGrave’s rear bumper. Bouche looked to the inside of DeGrave several times but never was able get along side the leader as DeGrave lead every lap en route to taking the checkers. Bouche settle for second, third for Weitor, Tim Jandrin fourth and Jeremy Anschutz rallied after an early spin to place fifth.

103 cars packed the pits as “Hot Rod” Todd Polster outlasted “Chargin” Charlie Kroll to take home his first feature of the season in the IMCA Stock Cars at Prestige Yacht Coatings Thunderhill Raceway. Other feature winners were Dan Ratajczak (IMCA Modified), Brad Lautenbach (IMCA Sport Mod), Dave Schmidt (IMCA Hobby Stock), Les Sternard (Street Stock) and Charlie Gross (Four-Cylinders).

Rookie Luke Lemmens and Todd Polster battled for lead early in the Stock Car main event, with Polster powering past Lemmens on lap 3. The top 3 in points would suffer a rough night as Dave Bouche and Greg Gretz ended up in the pits before the night was over and point leader Troy Muench made contact with the turn 1 wall and had a lengthy stop on pit lane, but stayed on the lead lap.

Midway way through the contest Charlie Kroll and Shawn Havel would make their presence felt challenging Polster for the lead. Feeling pressure Polster began to hug the tires which left the top side open and Kroll came motoring by and taking the lead with 8 laps remaining. Polster moved back to the high groove and closed back in on Kroll with Havel in toe. A bobble by Kroll out of turn 4 allowed Polster to retake the lead with 5 laps to go. Havel and Kroll hounded Polster the rest of the way but couldn’t get by as Polster picked up his first win of the season also scoring a clean sweep followed by Havel, Kroll, Jeremy Wiitala and Troy Muench.

Troy Muench was crowned the 2011 IMCA Stock Car champion. Muench is only the second driver to win a title in the Street Stocks and Stock Cars the other is Mike Pierrard.

“The Frog Station Flash” Dan Ratajczak took the lead early and dominated the IMCA Modified feature.

Rookie Cory Cochart and Chris Derenne would lock horns while battling for the lead in the Modifieds bringing out the first caution. Derenne and Cochart would be done for the night, that handed the lead to Evan Madden. Madden would quickly come under attack as Dan Ratajczak powered to the outside taking the lead on lap 3. Ratajczak began to check out leaving the battle for second between Madden and Billy LeMieux.

Fresh off a feature win in the Street Stocks last week, Dave Bouche would muscle his way inside Bret Koehler with 4 laps remaining to take home his first IMCA Stock Car feature of the season at Prestige Yacht Coatings Thunderhill Raceway. Brad Lautenbach passed Rod Solem and held off Eric Arneson on his way to winning the “King of The Hill” Sport Mod Tournament. Other feature winners were Eugene Gregorich Sr. (IMCA Modified), Eric Arneson (IMCA Sport Mod), Marcus Moede (IMCA Hobby Stock), Aaron Thornton (Street Stock), and Calvin Stueck (Four-Cylinders)

John Anschutz and Bret Koehler would do battle in the early goings of the Stock Car main event. Koehler would edge Anschutz and take the top spot. Dave Bouche would power to second by lap three and run down Koehler. Both drivers would be running the low groove, as Bouche waited for an opening point leader Troy Muench and defending Champion Greg Gretz would join the battle. The top four would run nose to tail down low.

With 5 laps remaining Gretz would be the first to try the top side and he would pull along side and pressure Bouche for the second spot. Koehler would leave just enough opening coming into turn 3 and Bouche would tuck in battling to the inside. Koehler and Bouche would lock horns with smoke and sparks coming off their racecars, when the dust settled Bouche would take the lead. A caution with 2 laps remaining would set up a dash to the checkers. Muench and Gretz would be right on Bouche’s bumper on the restart but Bouche would pull away and pick up the win, his 20th career at Thunderhill. Gretz would have to settle for second, followed by Muench, last weeks winner Charlie Kroll and Todd Polster rounding out the top five.

Muench holds a 25 point lead over Gretz going into the final night.

“The Professor” Eugene Gregorich Sr. would lead every lap winning his 2nd feature of the season in the IMCA Modifieds.

Other feature winners were Shawn Kilgore (IMCA Modified), Brad Lautenbach (IMCA Sport Mod), Tom Brumlic (IMCA Hobby Stock), Dave Bouche (Street Stock) and Kasey Gross (Four-Cylinders)

Tony Bouche would lead the first 3 circuits before Todd Polster would work to the top side taking the lead away. Last years Stock Car Champions Charlie Kroll and Greg Gretz would quickly give chase moving to the back bumper of Polster. Gretz would be the first to take a shot at the leader, Gretz’s Ford powered machine would work the low groove racing under the leader. Polster would have a little more momentum and hang on to the top spot.

Gretz would lose ground and quickly jumped back to the high side, this allowed Kroll to sneak by for second. Kroll then went to work keeping constant pressure on Polster. The duo raced door to door for the lead, with 5 laps remaining Polster would slide high out of turn 4 and make contact with the front stretch wall allowing Kroll to take command of the race as he would go on to take home the win, Gretz would sneak by for second followed by Polster, Point leader Troy Muench and Shawn Havel.

Shawn Kilgore would take the lead on lap 2 and cruise to his first feature win of the season in the IMCA Modifieds.

Billy LeMieux and Shawn Kilgore would wage battle in the opening laps of the Modified main with Kilgore taking the lead on lap 2. Dan Ratajczak and LeMieux would tangle while battling for second, sending LeMieux’s racer sliding into the front stretch wall. LeMieux would emerge unhurt and would express his displeasure to Ratajczak. Once racing resumed Kilgore would run the cushion to perfection taking home the win over a hard charging James Lee Tebon, Todd Dart would place third, point leader Jay Matthias and Jeremy Jacobs rounded out the top 5.

Point leader Brad Lautenbach power his way from 12th to the lead in 13 laps picking up the win in the IMCA Sport Mods.
