Heat Race Win, Top-10 Finish at Luxemburg for Budzo Racing

After a successful night last Saturday at 141 Speedway, we looked to build upon what we learned from that night to help our setup at Luxemburg Speedway. Last week our setup was way too tight for the track conditions, so we hoped our changes would help free up the car and be able to drive more smoothly down the straightaways.

I started on the pole in the first of three heat races, and quickly jumped out front of the field. Our changes to the car helped considerably, as I maintained about a straightaway lead on the rest of the field. The race would go caution-free and I went on to pick up my first heat race win of the 2012 season.

Due to my point average being low after my finish on opening night, I would also start on the pole for the feature. A rut had formed in turn 4 during the course of the night, and after a few laps of running through it, I decided to jump up to the outside of the racing surface to try my luck. I held on to 5th place for quite some time, but the car started to lose traction as the outside line slicked up. I did my best to keep the car in the top 10, coming home with a 9th place finish.

On Saturday night we had family plans, so we did not race at 141 Speedway. Sunday night we didn't hit the track either, deciding to spectate the races at Seymour Speedway instead.

We will be back out at Luxemburg Speedway on Friday night, and our plans for the rest of the weekend will likely hinge on the results from Friday's races. (Luxemburg, WI)- John Heinz stayed perfect at Luxemburg Speedway in 2012 with his IMCA Stockcar Feature win. Other winners on Algoma Motors night included Dan Ratajczak in the IMCA Modifieds, Rob Waechter Jr in the IMCA Hobby Stocks and Ryan Lemieux in the IMCA Northern Sportmods.

Brandon Czarapata led from the drop of the green in the IMCA Stockcar feature. Czarapata would dominate until a couple cautions midway through the race would keep everyone tight knit. On the restart, Czarapata would again bounce out in front of everyone. On lap eleven, Czarapata would have mechanical woes and turn the lead over to Troy Muench. With Muench out front, John Heinz would battle his way to second and hunt down the leader. Heinz would catch Muench with four laps to go. Heinz would try different lanes until Muench pushed out of turn four giving him a line. Heinz would grab the lead with two laps to go and hold off Muench for the win. Heinz is now two for two on feature wins at Luxemburg Speedway. Muench would grab second with Shawn Havel, Larry Karcz and Greg Gretz finishing in the top five.

Rob Waechter Jr would run a dominate race in picking up the IMCA Hobby Stock feature win. Waechter would lead from the drop of the green flag making quick work of Dave Schmidt. Waechter would instantly get pressure from Scott Boulanger who made his way from tenth to second in two laps. Boulanger would stay hot on the heels of Waechter until a flat tire would end his chances for a repeat win. Waechter would win his first ever feature at Luxemburg Speedway by a near half lap. Sawyer Haese would finish a career high second. Wes Salentine would finish third with point leader Tom Brumlic fourth. Derek Moede completed the top five. The feature went green to checker.

The “Rocket” Ryan Lemieux did just what his name insinuated as he jumped out front early in the IMCA Northern Sportmod feature. Lemieux would hold the lead through a series of midrace cautions. Brad Theys and Jeremy Cota would alternate the runner up spot but both made unsuccessful attempts at Lemieux. Lemieux stayed dominant and picked up his first win of the season. Theys would take second place money. Jesse Kroll passed Jeremy Cota at the line for third. Point leader Brad Lautenbach finished fifth.

(Luxemburg, WI)- In a cool opener which was almost beaten by mother nature, five feature winners prevailed at Luxemburg Speedway. Cory Cochart won his first career IMCA Modified Feature. Other winners included: John Heinz (IMCA Stockcars) Josh Long (IMCA Sportmods) Scott Boulanger (IMCA Hobby Stocks) and Ralph Liegeois Jr (4 Cylinders)

Derek Moede graced as leader in the IMCA Hobby Stock Feature for one lap until Scott Boulanger took the top honors in a move down low on lap two. With Boulanger solidly out front, Tom Brumlic would make his way into second with his sights set on the leader. Brumlic would run down Boulanger halfway through the race and begin to look for an opening. Brumlic would try three lanes of racing over the final ten laps but to no avail. Boulanger would score the feature win in the season opener with Brumlic second. Moede would finish third a half lap back. Travis Hackett would finish fourth with George Paul fifth.

Josh Long and Brad Lautenbach would start on the front row of the IMCA Northern Sportmod feature and take off from the rest of the field. A caution for a spin on lap four would regroup the field. Mark Joski would use good bite on the topside of the track to get around Lautenbach on the restart. The race would stay green until a caution with four laps to go would set up a four lap dash for cash. Lautenbach would repeat the move Joski made earlier to garnish the second spot. Lautenbach would be able to stay on the back bumper of Long but never mount a charge for the win. Long would earn the point lead with the win and Lautenbach second. Joski would settle for third with Greg Potts and Andy Kleczka rounding out the top five.

John Heinz used his pole position in the IMCA Stockcar main to run a dominant feature. Heinz would contend with Ben Kroll early in the main but would get out front and never look back in taking the win. With Kroll in second, Troy Muench, Dave DeGrave and Larry Karcz Jr would have a great battle for the third spot. Karcz would eventually win the three car war and make his way to Kroll. Karcz would get to second but would run out of laps as Heinz took the checkered flag. Karcz would finish second after restarting the race dead last with fifteen laps to go after a pit stop for a broken shock. Kroll would assume third position with Muench fourth and DeGrave fifth.
