Big things are in store as the Impact Survival Series heads into it's 3rd season. The compact car Enduro Series has a point fund totaling nearly $5000 as well as a planned Trip to the Famed Road America at Elkhart Lake. The trip to Elkhart Lake is a Co-operative effort with The Chump Car Series. It's not officially a points event. "It's an amazing opportunity for our drivers" according to Series Owner Matt Rowe "to experience something so grand with the equipment they already own. Normally a place like Elkhart would be out of reach for our guys and their Escorts and Civics, but with the help of the Chump Car Series we are all set for 14 Hours of Racing on the full 4 mile course!" The date was already on the Chump Car schedule and is fast approaching. The two day affair is set for March 26th & 27th. "In a nut shell we are using our Technical Specifications and penalty system and their safety rules." He went on to say "Some of our teams might have to only buy a Fire Extinguisher, while others may have to buy a new helmet and Driving suit, but thats okay since money spent on Safety Equipment is never wasted."
Teams must have a minimum of 2 drivers per team and 2 Crew members. The format of the event is actually 2 separate races, each 7 hours in duration. "Our normal format calls for between 200-300 laps, it'll be interesting to see if we can get close to 200 laps in the alloted time. The math is there if we can squeeze out 2 minute lap times, or a 60 MPH average. Fuel stops are a mandated 5 minute minimum in the Chump Car Series so I'm sure guys will run the tanks all the way empty before they stop."
