Dick Trickle talks about the "Daytona" of Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Mile

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (July 8, 2009) – The struggles of the Milwaukee Mile have been anything but pleasant news to many die-hard race fans from the Midwest. The most recent news will be heart wrenching to Mid-American Stock Car Series drivers and fans alike.

The Milwaukee Mile was forced to close its doors for the August “Wisconsin All-Stars” weekend, it was reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal Wednesday. Among other events, the weekend was to host a 40-lap MASCS feature event on Saturday, August 29.

“The Milwaukee Mile has been a very important venue to Mid-American, hosting some of the best races that we have had in the past four seasons,” said MASCS co-owner Doug Strasburg. “We wish the Mile the best of luck in getting back on their feet.”

The news, however, is not all “doom and gloom,” said Strasburg. He said there are many good people working, basically for free, to try to resolve the issues at the Milwaukee Mile.

WEST ALLIS, WI (Sunday, May 31, 2009) - It was a beautiful day and a great crowd on hand at The Milwaukee Mile for the ABC Supply - AJ Foyt 225 Indy Car Series race. Dixon got past defending race winner Ryan Briscoe with 24 laps to go in the race that only took one hour and 38 minutes.

Briscoe sat on the pole but it was Tony Kanaan going from his third starting position to the lead on the opening lap. Kanaan would lead the first 25 laps until Briscoe would get by him on lap 26. Kanaan would later fall out on lap 133 with mechanical problems.

The top-three stayed together throughout most of the event with Briscoe holding off Ganassi Racing teammates Dixon and Dario Franchetti.

The first of two cautions flew on lap 57 when Mike Conway made contact with the SAFER barrier in turn four. He was able to walk away.
