One night after running a strong second to Scott Biertzer at Cedar Lake Speedway on Friday night, Australian Brooke Tatnell returned to the same track with the same car with obvious intentions of leaving with the winner's check. Mission accomplished.

He started outside row one and led every lap of the 25-lap feature event but the box score does not even begin to tell how hard Scott Biertzer worked en route to his second career IRA Sprint Car win on Friday night at Cedar Lake Speedway.

3rd Annual Fan Driven Event Promises To Be Best Ever

by Rich Olson
The F.A.N.S. (FAns supportiNg racerS) Fund announced today that the annual fan driven event is back once again with some exciting changes for both fans and drivers. The FANS Fund, now entering its third year, is a fan based donation organization that offsets drivers expenses by presenting them $1,000 cash for participating in the USA Nationals held annually at Cedar Lake Speedway. Fans select drivers they wish to see attend the USA Nationals and participate in the donation process to offset their race expenses.

“When I started this two years ago for Bill Frye, I never imagined it would become an event like it is today,” stated founder and organizer Rich Olson. “Our goals are still the same as they were two years ago, a fan driven event where they can help offset racers costs and also impact the drivers who come to the USA Nationals that maybe otherwise would not. The event strives to bring new talent to Cedar Lake Speedway in the hopes of once they have a taste of racing here, they will want to keep coming back year after year. For me, it has been an incredible ride with meeting other fans who are passionate about Dirt Late Model racing, working with the drivers to bring them to Cedar Lake, and making the USA Nationals event the most competitive event it can be. I have a blast coordinating the event,” said Olson.

The FANS Fund remains relitively unchanged from 2009 with minor changes in the voting process, some new prizes, and new sponsorship announcements.

Cedar Lake Speedway is excited to announce Pack the Track Night this Saturday May 29th. Saturday will mark the first time in track history where every race fan will receive FREE general admission.

Last year we introduced a promotion called "Hot City Nights" where race fans from select area towns received free admission on select nights. "That promotion was very popular but this year we decided to take it to another level" stated owner Brad Both. "This gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy the races regardless of where they live for FREE!"

Memorial weekend is the perfect fit for Pack the Track night giving Cedar Lake Speedway the opportunity to thank every man & woman in uniform past & present for their brave service protecting our freedom.

Everyone that joins us Saturday will receive free general admission in the grandstands only. A fee to park vehicles on the turn 3 & 4 ramp or enter the pits will still be charged like normal. Gates open at 4:30 and racing starts at 6:00.

It was a night of firsts at the Cedar Lake Speedway on Saturday September 12 during the running of the 9th Annual Jerry Richert Memorial. It was the first time the 360 sprint cars were part of this great event that honors the memory of one of the true legends of the sport of sprint car racing. For young Milo, IA driver Rob Kubli, it was his first trip to the Cedar Lake Speedway, his first time racing with the upstart UMSS series, and best of all, his first victory in his very first time racing a 360 sprint car. During an incredible evening of sprint car racing at CLS, it just doesn't get any better than that. Stated a very happy Kubli following the race, "I've raced a couple of seasons in the 305 sprint car division in Southern Iowa, but this was my first race running with a 360 in the car. I had a blast. This is an awesome event." Indeed, the young Iowa driver will remember this night for the rest of his life.
