141 Speedway track officials have announced that they will not be using raceceivers for any of their weekly racing divisions in 2010.

Originally, at their drivers meeting in January, promoter Bruce Conard had announced that raceceivers would be used for all classes in 2010. “At first, we had another promoter of a nearby track who had originally expressed serious interest in running (raceceivers) like us,” said Conard. “Unfortunately this promoter has changed his mind and has decided not to run them. As a result, we don’t want to chase cars away so it is with regret we’ve decided that 141 Speedway will forego using raceceivers .”

Costs to the drivers would have been less than $100 per unit. “It’s a shame, because the feedback we’ve gotten was pretty favorable from the race teams with regards to using them,” said Conard. “But with this being our first year as a dirt track we didn’t want to be on an island. We won’t let that happen. The raceceivers are great because if it saves a driver from getting caught up in even one wreck, the raceceiver pays for itself.”

The ¼ mile, paved oval has been ripped up and a high banked, third mile clay oval was installed before the snow flew this winter. The speedway will host Wednesday night racing, with the season opener May 5 at 7 p.m. A pair of open practice sessions will be held on Wednesdays April 21 and April 28 from 5 p.m. til dusk. The practice sessions will be free to the public while a nominal fee will be charged for those entering the pit area. For more information check 141speedway.com.
