Concord, NC— November 7, 2009—A couple pieces of history were made on Saturday night live on SPEED in the finale of the World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway before a standing room only crowd as Joey Saldana became just the fifth driver in the 30-plus year history of the series to win at least 20 A-Feature events in a single season, while Donny Schatz became just the second driver ever to win four consecutive World of Outlaws titles.

COLUMBUS, WI (Wednesday, October 21, 2009) Columbus 151 Speedway, in conjunction with STM Promotions and Dan Thiel, would like to announce that the dirt has returned to 151 Speedway for one show this summer. This will be the first show on dirt at Columbus 151 since it was originally paved circa 1962. On Saturday night, July 3, the asphalt will be covered with clay for the running of this great event. October 10, 2009; Sturgeon Bay, WI – Joe Hernandez, owner of Prestige Yacht Coatings of Sturgeon Bay, has signed on for another season to be the headline sponsor of Thunderhill Raceway for the 2010 racing season.

Prestige Yacht Coatings came aboard prior to the start of last season, providing the track ample sponsorship to keep the doors open. The company also sponsored several local drivers during the 2009 campaign.

The awards banquet for the 2009 season has been set for Friday, November 13 at the Ladder House Sports Bar & Grill. The cash bar will open at 6pm with dinner at 7pm. All drivers and fans are welcome.

Also, the drivers meeting for 2010 has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 18 at 7pm. The meeting will also be held at the Ladder House Sports Bar & Grill.

(World of Outlaws photo)CONCORD, N.C. — Oct. 5, 2009 — The World Racing Group announced today it has entered into a multiyear agreement with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company to be the Official Tire supplier to the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.

Beginning with the 2010 Florida DIRTcar Nationals in February, World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competitors will be required to race with Goodyears on the left rear and right rear wheel positions.

“Goodyear recognizes Sprint Car racing as one of the elite forms of motorsports,” said Justin Fantozzi, Goodyear’s Marketing Manager of Global Race Tires. “We have a strong history with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. Our tires have carried drivers to 19 championships in the 30-year history of ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt.’ We look forward to building on that tradition in 2010.”

Friday & Saturday, September 25-26, 2009 – Chilton, Wisconsin Scheduled as a two-day race program, the 10th Annual Chilton Fall Invitational hit the track fast on Friday night with the first four of nine divisions completing their qualifying heat races before the rain front down poured on the Chilton track. When the work to put the track back in running order was not successful, the remaining heat races were rescheduled for Saturday. The new schedule for the Saturday program then included 16 additional heat races before the B-Mains.

Menomonie WI, Sept. 26 – A. J. Diemel, continuing his domination of area Late Model racing that started last week at the WISSOTA 100, powered past early leader Nick Anvelink and ran away with the thirteenth edition of the Punky Manor Challenge of Champions Saturday night at the Red Cedar Speedway. Other winners included Dave Cain, Shawn Huse and Shane Halopka.

After rain washed out the preliminaries on Friday night, the entire program was run on Saturday, with the qualifying events contested on Saturday afternoon and the feature races run in the evening.

Anvelink won the dash which gave him the pole position for the fourty lap Late Modle headliner with Ashley Anderson to his outside. Anvelink took the early lead but Diemel was quickly on the move after starting in the second row. He drove past Brent Larson and then Anderson and closed on leader Anvelink. While the majority of the field were riding the low line, Diemel was able to move up to the middle groove and he powered past Anvelink through turn two to take over the lead.


9/26 Plymouth, WI Mike Kertscher stole the win from Tommy Sexton with a last corner pass to claim the 13th annual Frank Filskov Memorial Fall Classic at Sheboygan County Fair Park. The race sanctioned by the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series is tradionally the final event of the IRA point season. Kertscher put down an absolute perfect lap rim-riding his way around Sexton and winning the drag race to checkerd. Kertscher piloted the Jim Bell / Chris Hartnell Captain Jim's Yacht Sales Kistler/JEI to the $2700 win. It was Kertcher's second IRA wi of the season, and also his second Filskov Memorial victory. Bill Balog was crowned IRA series champion for the second consecutive season. Donny Goeden led the early going, however fifth starting Sexton powered his way to past Billy Hafemann, Kertscher, and Mike Reinke before taking command as the first 14 laps went green. Veteran Joe Symoens stopped the action with a high altitude back-chute tumble. Sexton would lead Goeden, Kertscher, Scotty Neitzel, Bill Balog, Hafemann, and Reinke on the restart.


Spring Valley, MN— September 19, 2009— Joey Saldana came out on the short end of a late race battle just a few days ago at Clay County Fair Speedway losing the lead on the final lap to Jason Meyers and he made up for that on Saturday night in the Sprint for a Cure Summer Clash at Deer Creek Speedway in Minnesota, winning a late race duel with three-time and defending series champion Donny Schaz to pick up his series leading 18th A-Feature win of the season in the series inaugural visit to the immaculate 3/8-mile before a standing room only crowd in an event which was postponed by rain last month.

(Luxemburg, WI) Sept. 19- IMCA modified track champion Brian Mullen of Seymour took the lead at the drop of the green and led every lap en route to capturing the caution free, 30 lap IMCA modified feature to cap off day two of the Two Day Fall Classic presented by Tisler Salvage at Luxemburg Speedway Saturday night.

Mullen also won his feature Friday night, giving him a double for the weekend.

A total of 214 drivers representing seven different classes took part in the two day race.

Luxemburg’s Pat Davister snuck past Kewaunee’s Brian Bruechert on the final circuit to win the 25 lap stock car feature.

Shawano’s Tracy Wassenberg fought off a late race surge from Oconto’s Travis Cain to capture the sportmod feature. Cain settled for second, followed by Jason Guyette, Greg Wichman and Johnny Whitman.

Ed Anschutz of Kewaunee led every lap and survived six caution periods to win the 23 lap street stock feature. The victory was Anschutz’s second of the weekend, as he won Friday night as well.


Spring Valley, MN—September 18, 2009—The World of Outlaws will visit Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota on Saturday, September 19 for an even which was postponed by rain last month. The event will mark the first visit to the state-of-the-art 3/8-mile in the 31-plus year history of the series.

Deer Creek Speedway will be the sixth track that the World of Outlaws will have visited in the state of Minnesota dating back to 1979. Steve Kinser was victorious in the first ever series event 30 years ago in the Gopher State. Nine drivers have won A-Feature events with the World of Outlaws in Minnesota, with Donny Schatz taking the most recent checkered flag last season.

The event at Deer Creek Speedway will be the 19th overall A-Feature event contested by the World of Outlaws in the state of Minnesota. Drivers currently competing full-time with the series that have won in the state in addition to Kinser and Schatz include Minnesota native Craig Dollansky and Kraig Kinser, Steve's son who was victorious in the series debut at North Central Speedway last year.
