WEST PLAINS, MO (May 23, 2009) - Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA lapped up to the seventh place finishing car as he dominated the 17th Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts Show-Me 100 Presented by DART Machinery. He pocketed $40,000 on Saturday Night at West Plains Motor Speedway in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event. Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, WI used a late race caution to close behind Birkhofer in the waning laps, but Birkhofer was just too strong as he and Mars' MB Custom Chassis scored a one-two finish. Five-time Show-Me 100 winner Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN finished third followed by Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN and Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN who completed the top five.

Polesitter Jimmy Owens got a good start on fellow front row starter Scott Bloomquist on the initial start of the race, but a multi-car pileup on the opening lap brought out a red-flag as former race winner Terry Phillips left the race on a hook ending his night. On the restart, Owens won the race heading into turn number one with Bloomquist, Mars, Birkhofer, who started fifth and Jeremy Payne.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., captured the 40-lap main event Saturday in front of hometown fans as the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour invaded the Springfield Raceway for the first time in the 11-year history of America's premier Modified series.

The 42-year-old second-generation dirt track racer wrestled the lead away from his teammate, Jeremy Payne, on lap 11 and never looked back en route to collecting the $2,000 winner's share of the prize money.

Jackie Dalton currently leads the points at the Springfield Raceway in the USRA Modified division, and drew the pole position for the Sunoco “A” Main among the top-8 qualifiers Saturday night. Dalton grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag and paced the first three laps before giving up the top spot to Payne.

Payne's reign at the front was short-lived too as Phillips powered into the lead for good seven laps later.

Current Bear Tire Mo-Kan Region points leader Jason Hughes won the first Real Racing Wheels “B” Main, then passed nine cars in the main event to garner a third-place finish behind the Springfield duo.

May 16, 2009 - (Warrensburg, MO) Another Saturday night is in the books at CMS as fans and drivers came out for a cool and clear night of racing action. Heavy rains were again the order of the week but Mother Nature relinquished her rain fury just in time for some clear and windy weather just in time to dry things up for racing. To the delight of fans and drivers, promoter Earl Walls made the call early in the morning to go ahead with the race program for Armed Forces Appreciation Night at the speedway and the move proved beneficial as a large field of cars and fans in the stands made their way to the speedway. Service men and women, past and present were recognized prior to the night's action getting underway and based on the roaring applause by attendees, it was evident their sacrifices have not gone unrecognized. A total of 112 cars filled the pits, including 39 modifieds, 25 late models, 21 street stocks, and 27 b-modifieds. There were a total of 13 heat races, 2 b-mains, and 4 main events during the night's program for a total of 19 races.
