Dillon Oliver claims the ASA Late Model Series King's Ransom O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 Presented by Suncoast Plastering today in what could perhaps be the final event ever at Memphis Motorsports Park. Oliver claimed the lead on lap 236 from Josh Hamner and never looked back in route to his second consecutive ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division victory. "We have worked really hard in the seven ASA Late Model Series events we have ran this season," said the new 'King of Short Track' from victory lane. "I was promised I had a specially matched set of tires and that last 200 laps the car was right."

Champions and royalty go together, at least they do at the last event of the season for the ASA Late Model Series Teams. On Saturday, November 7th at Memphis Motor Sports Park we will put on a Finale Spectacular with the top short track drivers in the country. This will be a historic event being held in Memphis, the last race ever to be put on at Memphis Motorsports before it closes its doors for good. Gates will open at 10am, racing starts at 12pm, autograph session at 1pm and at 2:30pm the O’Reilly’s Auto Parts ‘King’s Ransom 300’ Presented by Suncoast Plastering.

Steve Carlson from Sparta, Wisconsin will do all he can to hold on to the title he earned last season as ‘2008 King of Short Track’. This Midwest legend is just one of the many talented teams going for the title of king. The O’Reilly’s Auto Parts ‘King’s Ransom 300’ Presented by Suncoast Plastering will have Champions door to door in one of the most highlighted events of the season.

LOVES PARK, IL. (Saturday, July 25, 2009) -- It’s been said that Rockford Speedway can separate the ‘men from the boys.’ With its high banks and tight quarter mile set up, the famed northern Illinois facility has been known to humble some of the countries best racers from time to time. But also, it is a place where the drivers who can win there are the drivers who can win anywhere.

It’s safe to say you can add Ross Kenseth to the second category.

Saturday night, the 16 year old driver not only set the track record in time trials, but proceeded to march through the field and claim the checkered flag in the 18th running of the All Star 100, which was also his first ever ASA Late Model Series North Division victory.

ASALMS – Lexington, MI – July 10, 2009
In what was arguably one of the most successful weekends in 2008, the ASA Late Model Series return to Madison and Rockford for the 2nd annual Border War’s.

In 2008 at Madison, Robbie Pyle successfully defended his 2007 win by holding off veteran Steve Carlson in front of an enthusiastic crowd for the first leg of the Border War’s. The very next night at Rockford it was Trent Snyder’s turn to get revenge on the tight bullring at Rockford by taking the win after having trouble at Rockford in 2007 that almost cost him the Championship.

“This format of running two races in one weekend has been well received by both the teams and fans. Two different tracks and so far two different winners so far, we’ll have to wait and see if some one can pull off the sweep” stated Series Owner Ron Varney.

“Gregg McKarns (Rockford) and Dave Gruenberg (Madison) are great supporters of the ASA Late Model Series and both of them go out of their way to help promote the race and making sure it is successful” finished Varney.

The ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts is excited to announce a new look for the series.

We would really like to distinguish the ASA Late Model Series and its brand as its own entity that allows our teams and partners to relate to the specific brand of late model racing found in the ASA Late Model Series.

Over the years the ASA Late Model Series has established a distinct platform as a premier late model racing series on a national level. We have built a solid foundation with the Crate Motor, template body car. We have produced Champions and development teams that have moved up and on into the highest professional circuits of the sport.

The series is widely known as the ASA Late Model Series and has established our brand and market through this name. We will continue to build on this platform while at the same time try to distinguish ourselves as ?America?s Premier Short Track Series.? A new year, a new look and a new innovative platform to keep us going and growing in the racing industry.

The weekend began with the ASALMS “How to Clinics” which offers the teams a variety of insights on areas such as building their ASALMS car, marketing, PR and safety. We had outstanding participation from ISP Seats, Safety Solutions, Crane Cams, Hoosier, Racing Electronics and Race Safe Systems, Phil Harper Motorsports, RV Performance, Five Star Bodies, General Motors and of course the ASALMS Officials.

Russ Chapman the ASALMS Tech Director was able to be a full participant via video conference even though he was still recovering from his recent hip surgery. ASALMS Officials Brad Barlow, Tom Powell and Burt Thomas all added valuable insight and entertainment.

Of course it would not be an ASALMS event without some weather and indeed there was. One of the major snow storms of the winter came in and graced us with about 10 inches of snow beginning on Friday. Some of the teams turned this lemon into lemonade and played in the snow, we all found ourselves enjoying this despite ourselves.

Friday night rolled into the Annual Meet and Greet where the teams from all divisions get a chance to get to know one another in a casual setting.
