LOVES PARK, Ill. (Monday, September 14, 2009) -- Competitors will have a unique way of earning a starting position during the 18th annual Bahama Bracket Nationals October 17 and 18 at Rockford Speedway, as they will be able to sing their way to a starting spot. Three drivers from each bracket will have the opportunity to earn one feature starting position per bracket by taking the microphone and belting out their favorite song for the Bud Light Last Blast Race Party crowd following racing action Saturday night at the quarter-mile high banked oval.

Crowd applause will determine which driver not already qualified for the 50 lap Championship Feature will get the nod to start shotgun on the field Sunday afternoon. One driver from each bracket will be awarded a position, those not already qualified for the feature event will have the option to sing based on their qualifying time until all three musical slots are filled in a given bracket.

FONTANA, Calif. (Oct. 10, 2009) -- Resurrecting his hopes after sustaining early damage to his No. 20 Toyota, polesitter Joey Logano won Saturday's Copart 300, an event he described as "the most fun race I've ever had in my life."

For others, particularly NASCAR Nationwide Series points leader Kyle Busch and his relief driver, Denny Hamlin, the race at two-mile Auto Club Speedway was anything but a barrel of laughs.

Taking over for Busch after 39 laps -- because Busch had a case of the flu that wouldn't let up -- Hamlin collided with Greg Biffle off Turn 4 while fighting for the lead on Lap 141 and exited the race with an irreparable car.

The accident put a substantial dent in Busch's points lead over third-place finisher Carl Edwards, who now trails Busch by 155 points with five races left in the season. Brad Keselowski, who rallied from a slow restart on a green-white-checkered-flag finish that took the race two laps beyond its scheduled distance, finished fifth and is third in points, 227 behind Busch.

Logano rallied from 25th position after Biffle forced him into the backstretch wall while Biffle was passing for the lead on Lap 50 of 152.

On a record-setting final day of the Virginia NHRA Nationals. Brandon Bernstein, Del Worsham, and Mike Edwards enjoyed much-needed get-well moments at Virginia Motorsports Park, at the fourth event of the six-race NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Countdown to 1 playoffs.

Both ends of the Pro Stock national record were reset and the points scenarios in the nitro classes got a shake up as there wasn’t a top-two car in the semifinals of either Top Fuel or Funny Car and Funny Car’s final four was staked out by drivers in positions five through 10. Top Fuel’s top two, Tony Schumacher and Larry Dixon, went to the trailer in back to back races in round two while Funny Car points leader Ashley Force Hood was a first-round casualty to red-hot Jeff Arend, who beat her for the third time in their last four meetings over the past events, and her teammate, second-place Robert Hight, fell in round two but nonetheless passed Force Hood for the points lead.

WEST SALEM, WI (Sunday, October 11, 2009) - Travis Sauter finally did something that his grandfather, father, and uncle hoped to do, that is win the Oktoberfest championship. He accomplished that goal today as he won the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment’s Oktoberfest 100 at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, WI.

He holds off a late challenge from Steve Carlson for the win. Carlson’s second place finish secures the 2009 ASAMT Championship.

“Oh its unbelievable, I wanted it so bad. I wanted this race more than any other race, its unbelievable,” an excited Sauter said in victory lane. Sauter took the lead from his father Tim on lap 30 and held off a late challenge from Carlson.

WEST SALEM, Wis. (October 11, 2009) – What a difference one week can make. Last Sunday afternoon, a dejected Paul Neisius and his team towed their badly damaged car from Rockford Speedway home to Hastings, Minn., with a 21-point margin in series standings. This week, they are Mid-American Stock Car Series champions.

Neisius methodically worked his way through the field, charged past Bobby Gutknecht on lap 28 and secured his first ever MASCS championship by winning the Oktoberfest 40 at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway. Bill Prietzel finished 13th, falling short of a fourth title by 20 markers.

“I would rather win the race than win the championship, truthfully. Tonight it’s both,” Neisius said while accepting the final accolades of the 17th MASCS season.

(West Salem, WI – October 10, 2009) It was a cold night, but the grand stands were filled to see three exciting feature races. Steve Carlson walked away Saturday night with an ASA North feature win while Ross Kenseth took home both the Big-8 feature win and Championship. Paul Neisius also took home a win and Championship in the Mid-American series.

Dells Raceway Park today announced that the Big 8 Late Model division (formerly known as “Limited Late Models”) would headline the weekly Racing show in 2010. The “Super Stock” division will migrate into a Sportsman class with rules identical to several other tracks in Central Wisconsin. Pure Stocks and Bandit divisions will remain largely unchanged. New rules packages will be available by November 15th, 2010.

So what happened to the Super Late Models? “The cost of running a Super Late has become impossible for all except a select few” said Race Director Scott Sauerbrei. “In the past few years, the Big 8 Late Model has provided a great opportunity for those who want to race a Late Model without the out-of-control costs. For our weekly series, we made the decision to join most other tracks in Wisconsin and build on the cost-conscious rules associated with the Big 8 Late Model.”
