141 Speedway Champions Crowned in Awards Banquet

(Francis Creek, WI) February 4 – More than 300 drivers, crew members, race fans and track officials converged at Fox Hills Resort in Mishicot Saturday as the 2011 track champions from 141 Speedway were crowned, in the track’s second season as a high-banked, third-mile clay oval.
Sobieski’s Sean Jerovetz won his first career track title in the modified division. Jerovetz beat Green Bay veteran Eddie Muenster by 7 points to secure the crown.

Pulaski’s Larry “Junior” Karcz won his first 141 Speedway track championship by 34 points over Denmark’s Rick Mahlberg.

Green Bay’s Troy “General Jed” Jerovetz won the closest points chase in the sportmod class, edging Suamico’s Josh Long by one point to collect the title.
Menasha’s TJ “The Kid” Smith captured his second straight Brian Peterson Builders Grand National title, beating out Chilton’s Steve Schneider by 17 points. Greenville’s Danny Gracyalny won the street stock crown by 38 points over Francis Creek’s Kraig Koehler.

Oconto’s Ralph Liegois Jr. won the sport four track title.

Rookie of the year honors went to De Pere’s Johnny Whitman in the modifieds, Whitelaw’s Kevin Naidl in the grand nationals, Kewaunee’s Todd Augustian in the stock cars, Green Bay’s Mike Dauphinais in the sportmods, Appleton’s Frank Groeschl in the street stocks and Manitowoc’s Brian Krejcarek in the sport fours.
Most improved driver awards went to: Michelle Loy (modifieds), Abrams’ Jessi Ness (sportmods), Suamico’s Tyler DeBouche (stock cars), Manitowoc’s Shawn Schmidt (Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals), Denmark’s John Adams (street stock) and Chilton’s Brandon Goeser (sport fours).

Nearly $8,000 in point fund money was doled out to drivers in all six divisions. Drivers who competed in 75 percent of the nights raced qualified for the cash.
A total of 330 different drivers took part in weekly racing at 141 Speedway in 2012. That total included 64 street stocks, 57 sport fours, 56 stock cars, 55 modifieds, 54 sportmods and 44 Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals.

Modifieds will again be the headlining, weekly division in 2012. Brian Peterson Builders Grand national sportsman will also compete weekly, along with stock cars, street stocks, IMCA northern sportmods and sport fours. In addition, Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw sprints will make three appearances in 2012 and the Custom Windows Plus Badger Mod Tour presented by Floors By Design & Directional Drilling Services will make two appearances.
