2nd Annual Midwest Meltdown in Amsoil Sandbox Arena at Cedar Lake Speedway

by Jamie Nutzmann
NEW RICHMOND, Wis. -- Cedar Lake Speedway is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Midwest Meltdown inside the state of the art Amsoil Sandbox Arena on Friday, April 3rd through Sunday, April 5th. The event will include six classes of Speedway Flat Karts (Junior 1 Heavy, Junior 2 Heavy, Stock Heavy, Briggs Animal Medium, and Briggs Animal Heavy) as well as 4 classes of Winged Outlaw Karts (Box Stock/Junior Wings, 125 Winged, 250 Winged, and 500 Open Winged). In addition, the event will feature Micro 600 Outlaw Sprints along with Quads, Legends, and Hornets.

The weekend promises to be action packed as Cedar Lake is anticipating a huge field of competitors. Cedar Lake Speedway is requiring all competitors to pre-register on its website (www.cedarlakespeedway.com) by clicking “purchase tickets” and following the instruction from there. Cedar Lake and Sandbox Arena management require a minimum of 250 entrants prior to February 15th to ensure the event takes place. Competitors must pay the first day car entry fee of $40 (micro sprints are $75). Pit passes are $20 per day for the event and will be sold at the arena. Each competitor will be required to purchase a minimum of 3 pit passes per day.

“We are excited to host this event”, stated Steve Kaufman of Cedar Lake Speedway. “The exact purse will depend on the number of entrants but is guaranteed to be one of the largest that these guys have ever run for in the area. Better yet, since we are running indoors, weather is not a factor and everyone has the itch to get out and race after a long, cold winter. We look forward to a great event!”

The festivities will kick off on Friday, April 3rd with practice for all competitors from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Then, action will shift into high gear with heats starting on Saturday, April 4th at 1:00 and features beginning at 6:00. Sunday, April 5th will include another full race program with heats starting at 11:00 and features at 4:00. This schedule allows traveling competitors flexibility to come on Saturday and return at a reasonable time on Sunday.
